PGM Moonlake Kurate Golf Club (JAPAN)

PGM Moonlake Kurate Golf Club (JAPAN)

Summary:
This project replaced the lightings of the PGM Golf Club Kurate Course located in Kurate, Fukuoka, Japan, where 1 kW mercury lamp was replaced with GigaTera floodlight, SUFA, and MAHA. The energy savings reached 73.7%, with a surprisingly high improvement of illumination intensity of 250%, which satisfied the client. This Kurate project is the second LED lighting for a golf club in Japan and the first one in Kyushu.

Benefit:
- Improved brightness of the OB line and the rough area
- Reduced installation time and error with the GPS installation method
- Sharper color expression of grass with warmer color temperature
- Five times or longer service life
- 73% or more energy savings and reduced maintenance cost

Project:
This project installed LED lightings in the nine eastern holes and nine western holes as well as the three central holes of the Kurate Course. Old 678pcs of 1kW mercury lamps replaced with new 667pcs of 3 types of GigaTera LED Floodlights: (SUFA200, SUFA400, and MAHA 400). The client prioritized energy saving with an improved illumination intensity. GigaTera Japan submitted optimized simulation data according to the client’s requirements and eventually achieved 73.7% energy saving and 250% improved illumination intensity. This project adopted GPS to install lightings, which led to a considerably shorter installation time than expected. The installation team had to define accurate aiming points, which were expressed with precise coordinates using GPS simulation. These GPS coordinates were used to install the lightings and minimized the error of aiming on-site, with the uniformity optimized. This project reduced total energy consumption and the number of lightings with an improved illumination intensity and uniformity, making it one of the most successful golf club installation projects in Japan.
